Italy 2022

After a crushingly difficult year, we decided to get the heck out of the country for awhile.

Day 1: Arrived in Rome on November 28, 2022.
Stayed at a hotel with a view of the Trevi Fountain.

Day 2: Walked from our hotel to the Pantheon.

Found the Leonardo Da Vinci Museum exhibit of gadgets he designed and built.

Walked to Vatican City and walked through St Peter’s Basilica.

Day 3: Walked from our hotel to the Colosseum and took a guided tour.

Day 3 and 4: Walked all over the Roman Forum.

Day 5: Took the bullet train from Rome to Naples. Rented a car in Naples. Stayed overnight in Naples at La Dimora le Fumarole, near Vesuvius.

Day 6: Took a guided tour of Pompeii.

Drove to the Amalfi Coast and survived the narrow roads.

Day 7, 8 and 9: Hung out in Amalfi, went swimming in the Mediterranean sea, enjoyed fresh citrus and bougainvillea, and hiked in the hills.

Day 10: Returned the rental car to Naples. Took the bullet train to Venice.

Day 11, 12 and 13: Stayed in Venice.

While in Venice, chanced upon a lone gondolier and got a private ride for a fraction of the going rate.

Saint Marks Basilica square and Doge Palace and museum.

Day 14: Took the bullet train back to Rome.
Went to see La Traviata performed at a cathedral.

Day 15, 16 and 17: Stayed in Rome, near the Forum, and Colosseum. Our hotel roomed looked out at the ruins. We also walked up to the Spanish Steps and walked around the parks and green space.

Walked around the archeological museum close to the Forum.

Day 18: Flew home.
